After reading recent posts on failed blowers, I hope I made the right decision. Has a specific failure point been identified yet? Is it the switch?

I think the number of failures is greatly exaggerated. The blower may be the best selling tool, and it has been featured on the home page of the Home Depot website and app recently. There isn't any mass-failure, maybe a bad production run at worst or most likely just a few defective units.

Either way, Ego does about the best job of anyone in the industry with taking care of their customers. Make sure you register your tools and batteries now so they have your info in case you ever do have any issues in the next 3-5 years. Ego has been very quick to send replacement equipment almost every time anyone has posted about an issue they had. I wouldn't worry at about the quality or support behind it.
