Is there a way to know if the self-propelled mowers in stock at Home Depot are the newest model available?

Official Response
Hi Leslie, there have been no changes to the design of the 21" SP mower since its release last spring. Even the kit option with 7.5Ah battery is the same.

The only small change is that Ego started including the side discharge chute with the mower. If you happen to get one without the chute and need it (most people mulch or bag) just call Ego Customer Service and request it while registering for the warranty.

There is a $50 promotion on the mowers right now, that's about the only "new" thing to report. :-)

Mine came with a side discharge chute. The paperwork, instructions etc., were marked sep 2016.  It was purchased 3/23

Hi, I purchased mine on March 17 and it too came with the side discharge chute. The mower, battery and charger were labeled November 2016. Also, my understanding is the 50 dollar reduction in price is the "new lower price" of the mower not a short term promotional price.

Ego has commented that it's a short term promotional price.

Although, I have this gut feeling that it's permanent. I didn't have enough faith in my gut so I jumped on it.

HD is very misleading with their "New Lower Price" labeling. From what I can tell, it almost always refers to a sale price that is not long term.

I've missed out on a few deals that way and ended up not buying the product from Home Depot as a result. Their loss, and frustrating for the customer. It's one of those head scratchers you'd assume a company of that size wouldn't screw up...

I guess it's the equivalent of Walmart's Rollback?

I bought one a couple of days ago and it was dated June 2016 so I did not get the side discharge -- but I've ordered it.  And anyway, so far the mulching is working very well -- as is everything else.  I'm getting used to the slight lag (fraction of a second) on the self-propulsion. The quietness is amazing.  FYI, at two of the Home Depots I went to the sale price was not presented on the mower but was reflected at the cash register.  The third HD had the reduced price listed but had no mowers available. There was no indication of how long the reduced price would hold.

Glad you are enjoying your new mower.  I agree the mulching works very well - I did not use anything else last summer.  I also love how quiet the machine runs and also how easy it is to push when I chose not to use the self propelled function.

How weird is it that I'm thrilled the grass here is finally greening up so I can start mowing again? I enjoy the exercise and my Ego 20" mower doesn't come with any of the down side of taking care of my lawn.

I'm not, however, looking forward to trying to get my gas tiller running so I can till up a former garden area to put down grass seed. That thing sits over the winter and it's a bear to get started again.

It seems all the components in the "kit" have the same born date, at least the one I bought.

If I received an Ego battery that was a couple years old, I think I would take it back to HD since it is obviously old stock.

What about years 4+ when it's no longer under warranty? That's where my mind goes.

Brad, the warranty period is based off of when you purchased and registered your battery, not its manufacture date.
