Is there a tool to compress the tabs on the head of my string trimmer?

My hands are relatively small. I can just get my fingers over the green tabs on the head of my ST1524 String Trimmer when attempting to untangle a string jam. Is there a tool/clamp to help with this procedure?

Ego doesn’t offer a tool for this. Perhaps someone else has developed a method they can share?

Small hands also; I simply push one tab, wiggle it a bit, then the other.

I have a pair of large adjustable pliers that open up big enough to press those tabs.

Oregon Mike, if you can provide brand and model number of your pliers, I would like to get that.

William, no brand or model on my pliers. They are older than dirt. LOL However when set to the largest opening with the handles closed the opening is just over 2". With the handles fully open the jaws open to 5". Note that I'll sometimes use a large-ish flat blade screwdriver in conjunction with these pliers.

A c-clamp vice grip will handle the problem...you just need to determine which size you need...:)

I have a pair of large vice grips that work, but you can just press one tab at a time to release the spool.  So you don't need to be able to reach across.

I use a screw driver on each side separately and pry the tab in and push out while lifting that side and then opposite and it pops out. Impossible to push them both in together while lifting up for me at least.
