Is bagging the best mode to use to maximize lift?

If I want to get the most lift possible, whether using the standard blade or the high lift blade, is bagging recommended, as opposed to mulching or side-discharging?

Yes. By far
Especially with the elusive high lift blade

I would think bagging or discharging would both offer similar performance.

Discharging without the chute maybe. Just cuz it clogs a lot if the grass is wet

Yes, was thinking as long as the chute is not plugged.

But if you want to pick up debris (one of two reasons to use the HL blade), you've got to use the bag.  :)   First reason for HL blade would be to suck up the grass for more even cutting (reduce that annoying strip of grass between passes that pops up later because the mower couldn't cut grass that was pressed down by the previous pass's wheels).  The discharge chute would work for this reason, if reason two isn't also a factor for using the HL blade.  Second reason would be what many have clamored for: picking up leaves, grass clippings, small debris.

Mine has some suction and lift with the mulch plug. Hence doesn't pick up leaves etc cuz it chops them up.
