When bagging with the lawn mower, I hate how the flap slams shut when you remove a full bag. Then, you have to reach down low to pull that flap up to reattach the now empty bag.

I've solved the problem simply. It keeps you from having to bend so low!

Loop a small shock cord (or bungee cord, if you prefer) around the lower cross bar of the handle. Hook the free end into the flap. It should be loose enough to allow the flap to lay against the bag. When you lift the handle into the bag removal position, the flap gets raised with it. When you fold the handle flat for storage, you must unhook the shock cord first! Look at the pictures. It really is simple and really does save your back!

I've never moved the handle from where I have it set for mowing. Never seems to be in the way to remove or attach the bag. Also haven't felt that the lid is too low to reach when it's closed. Interesting idea for those who may need help with their bad back.

I have a bad back. I can see this being useful for someone who needs to empty the bag several times during a mow. More than removing the need to bend so far, this would turn bag removal into a one handed job! I must admit, having to hold the flap up while taking the bag off is a bit of a pain.

My yard is a tiny single-bagger, so this would be a waste of time for me, even with a sore back. :-)

Moving the handle forwards let's you lift the bag straight up. The little bungie took all of 5 seconds to wrap around and hook under the lip of the flap. It makes a lot of difference if you have to change the bag often like I do. I probably change the full bag out 20 times per mow. I'd prefer to mulch but my wife wants it bagged. Happy wife, happy life.
