When I pre-ordered the snow blower from HD's website, I received an email a few days later stating it was back-ordered and that my credit card wouldn't be charged until it shipped.  Well, I just received a notification from my credit card company stating the charge just occurred...

It's possible my new toy just shipped!  ;)  If it does, I won't say something like "I can't wait to try it out duuuuuuurrrr", because it's freak'n August and still summer, and if winter *NEVER* comes, this will be one happy person, Ned Stark catchphrase notwithstanding.  :D

I'll let you guys know if it does indeed ship and I get a tracking number soon.

I got the same notification. I was tempted to cancel the order and wait for the reviews to start rolling in but I'm afraid I'll be wishing I have it at the first snowfall and it'll be too late because they'll be out of stock. Decisions, decisions.

Yeah, I feel the same.  That said, HD has a 90-day return policy, and if the tool-only kit gets released before the end of November, I'll likely return this and pick up the tool-only version.  I'm already sitting on two 7.5 Ah batteries!  ;)

If it doesn't, I'll keep it and sell the batteries and rapid charger for a major deal on Craig's List or eBay.

I only have 2.5/5 Ah batteries that came with my trimmer and mower so I need the batteries though I wish 7.5 Ah batteries would be included with this initial kit to extend runtime.

I just checked mine and it shipped too. I got a notification from UPS earlier that a package was shipped to my address and I thought it was from Amazon. LOL, oops. Tried to track the "new" number in my app and it said it was already logged. Mine is supposed to arrive Wednesday and I sure hope it does as I'm leaving town Thursday morning until Monday.

I checked the last shipment I received from HD and it was picked up the day after I got the shipment notification so I was pretty sure it the snow blower wouldn't make the estimated delivery date of 8/31.  Just checked and the shipment was picked up today and has already departed the origin facility so it looks like it'll arrive before I leave town.  I'm glad I won't need to have them hold it at the UPS facility until next Tuesday.  I'll be looking forward to DJDDay's unboxing pictures since mine will be sitting in the garage until I get back to town.

Mine Shipped as well. Nothing like getting excited for snow on a 90F day in August.

The battery deal is great. I have a 2,5,and 7.5. Now I can run the snow blower while the 5/7.5 charge and just swap. This gives me a chance to do my neighbors (all older) without having to wait-I can keep swapping my 4 higher amp ones (and I now can load up my other tools without swapping). At $600 it seems like a serious deal.

My expected arrival is Thursday September 1, right in alignment with what the HD "pre-order" webpage was advertising.

*sigh*

Now for the stark reality... You know you're old when you're excited about getting a snow blower in the summer when it's 90F outside.  :/

I'll try mine on the leaves first, just for fun. I'm about to get about 1-2 feet of big oak leaves. I'll find out if I can aim the blower to have the leaves land in my chipper/shredder!

New snow blower and 90F outside. This may be the first year I want a big snowstorm just so I can use this.
The boxes are similar but the mower's is slightly bigger.

You bought the mower as well as the blower at the same time??

Haha, no, I had flattened the mower box and had it in the garage in case I needed it (never know!).  Brought it in to compare the sizes of the boxes.

ARRRRRGH!!!!  My blower was originally supposed to arrive today (9/1).  I just checked the tracking and now it's pushed to Friday (9/2).  My office is supposed to close early tomorrow for the holiday weekend - COME ON UPS!  :/

I hate when that happens. If you can, have them hold it at a UPS facility or deliver to a UPS Store location that has longer hours tomorrow. I love the flexibility of UPS My Choice.

Yeah, I love being able to redirect shipments to make pickup more convenient. I'm never home when they come to my house. Luckily there is a FedEx location in my office building, and the UPS hub isn't far out of my way on the drive home.

You'll have a nice three-day weekend to play with your new toy. Too bad you're unlikely to have any snow!

I would hope they are. The majority of us will be doing snow cleanup after work, and it's usually dark by that time.

I gotta say - while I obviously can't test the performance in actual snow right now, this thing throws a metric s@#t ton of air!  When the speed lever is engaged full, the air blowing out of the chute is incredible.  I can't wait to see how this tears through snow.

I'm also reaaaaaaaaaaaaally glad they included the variable speed lever for the auger.  This is really game changing!

Nice.  I never got a snow blower before so I really dont know alot about them.  But what you are saying is that the variable speed for the auger is a feature not found on other gaz/electric snow blowers on the market?

Also concerning the air blowing out, is  it comparing to other snow blowers you have tried?

Thanks.

@Mcklain - as for snow blowers of this class (single stage 21"), I know of none that have a variable speed auger. NONE. I could be wrong though.

I compared it to a 21" Toro and a 21" Craftsmen. It blows air no worse, that's for sure.

The variable speed really is going to be a game changer! The way I see it, you can just aim the chute at an angle that works most efficiently at throwing a good distance, and then adjust your speed to suit. No more messing with the chute to control the throwing distance!!! Heck yeah!!!

Oh, and running the auger no faster than needed to do the job will surely extend battery life too. Icing on the cake! :-)
