I was a bit hesitant to spend the money to get into Ego products, but I found a loophole to get in cheap. I stopped by the local Home Depot Saturday and saw they were offering a free battery in store for every Ego product. They did not carry the self-propelled so I had to pass 3 other Home Depots across town to the one who carried the product. I opened a Home Depot charge and got $25 off the purchase and 6 months to pay. Total after discount plus tax was $608. When I got my receipt I noticed it said the battery had a $101 return value. I handed it back to the cashier and asked to return it. I got $107 back (tax). Sweet I was out the door with the SP mower for $501, including tax!

I went back to Home Depot this morning bought a string trimmer for $199, with a free battery. Again I handed the battery right back for $78 back!! Then I did the exact same thing with the blower. So I now have the $599 mower, the $199 trimmer and $199 blower, with a 7.5aH battery and 2 2.5aH batteries, all for around $757 with tax included!! I also have a 3 chargers. So I'll keep the quick charger and sell the other 2 on Ebay. I should have no problem netting $60 for both chargers, bringing my total down to $700!!

I hope I like this stuff!

That's cool, but I like having plenty of batteries for my 5 Ego tools.  And being a vet, I got 9% off online and the usual 10% off in the store.

I should also mention by returning the batteries the return value for the products is reduced by the return value of the batteries. The blower and string trimmer are only worth $121 each, and the lawn mower $472 if I try to return them.

I'm pretty sure HD does this the same way with all of their "buy this, get that free" promotions. It will say something to the effect of "must return all items for full discount" meaning you can't get $199 back for the blower unless you return the "free" battery along with it.

My Home Depot wouldn't give the Vet discount along with the special going on with EGO. I won't be able to test the 15" trimmer until they get their shipping.

I got the military discount on the free battery deal today at my local HD.  it took them a few minutes to figure out how to key it in.  I got 3 free batteries so they had to do 3 separate transactions.

Online, I have purchased 3 ego products with a discount at homedepot.com of 9%.  close enough to the military discount in stores.

You should have let me handle the transaction!   :)  On one purchase online the guy said he could only give me 5%.  I said that I'd already gotten 9% on two of the earlier items and he then got me the proper discount.

On my receipts it shows the battery refund value at $74.55 (due to the military discount I received on the purchase)
