I just got a new EGO 21" self-propelled cordless mower. Does anyone know why there is a button on the battery?.

It tells you how much power is left. (in a terribly hard to read fashion)

Its the release button when you need to remove the battery from the mower to place in the charger.

If you're referring to the large button beside the battery inside the battery compartment in the mower, yes, that allows you to remove the battery for charging.

No. I'm referring to the button on the battery pack itself. Is there a scenario in which I might actually press it?

Only to check the charge level. Red means 15% or less, green means over 15%.

Correct it's just an indicator for power.
