A few things to try.
Make sure your handle clamps are fully engaged. Pull upward on the handle while clamping the clamps in place.
Be sure you press the green button first, and hold it down while then pulling the black bail.
Is the battery fully charged?

How old is the mower? If  you are within the 90 day return window at Home Depot you might be able to exchange it. Otherwise you may need to give EGO Customer Service a call. Call early in the day to avoid long hold times.
