How do you lock the head on the string trimmers so you can remove and replace the head?? I can easily remove the cover to access the string and the nut, but see no way to keep the head from spinning when trying to loosen the head retaining nut. I saw something about a hole on the side of the head where you can insert an Allen Wrench to secure it, but there is no hole so I'm stuck...or missing the (not so) obvious.  Thanks in advance.

I remember having this same problem the one time I actually replaced the head on mine.  Note:  Mine is the 15" model, so I don't know it it's different.  But what I found was that the head does not screw on/off, it just pulls off.  But it is on there really, really tight!  It took me a while and trying several tools to figure out how to pry it loose so I could pull it off.  I didn't really need to replace that head but, like you, I had purchased that kit with the pre-wound spool and a new head, so I was determined to put it on!  Save yourself the trouble and just put the new spool on and be done with it.  After that experience, I decided to just buy a supply of the correct size line (cheap!) and learned how to wind it myself.  The EGO instruction book does not tell you anything about how to get that head off, but fortunately it's pretty good at telling you how to wind the line on the spool.

I used a strap wrench on the plastic to hold it.

Another option but not the best in some minds, is use a small cordless impact. It will remove that nut in no time. But be careful as you could strip the threads on the motor. Which would be really bad for you.

Or insert something in the plastic latch holes to hold it in place.

The latch holes are what the cover snaps into. This can however cause some damage. But if your going to throw that part out, then it doesn't matter.

Is this the rapid reload head or the earlier one with the spool?
