Used the hedge trimmer first time today and it's heavy. With extra weight of the battery being at the bottom it's very difficult for me to turn the blade sideways which is the vast majority of the cutting I need to do and the extra safety switch or the main switch is constantly disengaging while trying to hold it. In fact the two switches work best together when it's resting at my side and I don't want to cut anything. This is compounded by the delay when the two switches are finally engaged again. It sounds like a small thing but when you're tired and you're trying to cut stuff and it's constantly turning off and you turn it back on then you got to wait that half second while you're trying to finish stroke or a movement, it was not fun.

I'm coming from a corded Black & Decker electric hedge trimmer that allowed you to turn the blade left or right 90 degrees and only had one trigger that could be locked. It's a big step down in functionality I'm not sure what to do. I really wanted to go all all in on the Ego lawn mower edger and trimmer pole saw and so on. :(

After today I firmly believe that all hedge trimmers should have a blade that can rotate left to right 90 degrees leaving the handles where they are. It's a big deal and seems to make even more sense with the heavy battery being at the bottom.

The Ego hedge trimmers sold in Europe have that feature, but there's no telling if or when those models will be available in North America. Ego says there are no plans to offer them here.

Why on Earth would they not. ??? It's been out there for a year or so. Two versions no less. What the flipping heck?

If you imported it would the batteries work?

Yes, I'm sure the batteries would work just fine.  You might be without a warranty, though. ;-)
