grass getting caught on the string trimmer shaft

I have been cutting tall grass.  The grasses spin around into the trimmer and get caught around the motor shaft.  There needs to be either a stainless steel mesh screwed onto the guard to protect the shaft and the fan fins or have a smaller clearance between the fan fins and the guard so grasses can't get under the fins.

Official Response
For optimal results when trimming very tall grass, do not try to trim the full length in one pass. Trim in two or more passes, as needed, shortening the grass a few more inches with each pass. Thank you for your suggestions for improvement. We will pass them on to our product development team for further review.
