Grass Clogging Deck & Catcher

Firstly, I love my EGO.  I've had it for about 3 years & I love it but the only issue I've had is that grass gets clogged under the deck & it seems to be getting much worse.  I'm not fussed but my wife is complaining about all the grass being left behind.   When I use the catcher it just clogs up in the entrance & the catcher remains mostly empty.   It's the same issue if I use the side chute, it works for a minute or so then clogs up even with dry grass.    I read some comments from other users about the importance of cleaning the underside of the deck well so today I really scrubbed it clean.  I did notice that it felt a little rough so I sanded it with 120 grade wet & dry then finished it with 1500 grade.  It was definitely smoother but not perfect.   It didn't seem to help though within 3 minutes it had a good coating on it & the chute was blocked.   After 10 minutes I could hear it straining & I had to stop to clear it.   Sometimes if the grass is long I can only go about 20 metres without stopping to clear it.        I replaced the blade a while back but it didn't seem to help.   I also sharpened the previous blade but that didn't help much either.   I've heard conflicting report about whether you should sharpen the blade or not. Appreciate any ideas.

Mowing the grass when it's wet is the biggest culprit. I've had some luck with putting a coat of car wax on the deck once I've cleaned it thoroughly.

I typically give the mower a good cleaning sometime over the winter and then give the deck a good coat of wax before I take it out in the spring. Then as much as possible I wait for the lawn to dry out before mowing it.
