Saying 'free of moisture' is a bit of a cop out as there are very few places on earth that are 'moisture free'. Relative Humidity is the proper way to specify this.

There is a subtle difference between humidity and "condensing" moisture. The troubles I had were likely from condensing moisture leaving wet conductive pathways on the printed circuit boards. The type of semiconductor devices used these days can require very little current to stay alive and small external resistances can really mess up the way things were designed to work. Too bad these things aren't built for jungle type operations with thick protective coatings over circuit traces, etc.  Definitely a far cry from "military grade" but then not in the same price category either.

To Jacob's point, the YouTube video below showed "how the circuit board" is completely covered in an epoxy coating - enjoy the video if you have not seen it, but delete if you have!

Charger circuit boards aren't coated. Well, the Standard charger isn't for sure, but I've never has the rapid charger apart.

Condensing moisture, as Donn points out, should be avoided.

What is happening when you plug the battery into the charge?  does the chargers fan come on?  Does the lights on the charger come one and do you get the single blinking green light?

On the battery, when you press the power indicator button, is it just red? or nothing at all?

When the battery is in the charger, do you get the cycling of colours on the battery power indicator.

Those items will help better determine what is going on with the battery and charger and help diagnose where the issue might be coming from or when the next step is to recomend.

When plugged in, one light comes on and a fan sound is emitted although it doesn't sound normal.  A green light comes on then goes off after 5 minutes or so.  I will remove battery but blower does not have power to operate

It sounds like your tool is bad, not the battery. Do you have another tool? If your handy with a volt meter, you can check the voltage of the battery, assuming the battery light shows green when you press it

Herman, for the fastest service and resolution, please consider giving our customer service team a call at 1-855-346-5656. Your batteries and chargers come with a 3 year warranty and all EGO Power+ tools come with a 5 year warranty.

Also. please reply back here to the forum.  this is a great tool for others who might have the same issue as you to refer to.  Give us what diagnostic steps are taken so we all know what to test first.

Thanks

My Battery showed no charging going on. At this point, I didn't know if it was the charger or the battery The VP of the Company I work for had a similar charger for his tools and we put the Battery on his charger which was a known good charger and similar results showed no charging at all of the battery.  EGO is replacing the Battery.

I am a "tinkering" kind of person who likes to see how things work, but when it comes to the battery and the charger, I don't take any chances with them.  I always contact CS and let them walk me through their "diagnostic" process, to determine the "real" issue(s).  This way, any repair / replacement can be done quickly the "first time" around by EGO, and I won't have to worry about voiding the warranty on the products.  That said; I am glad to hear that EGO will take care of your "defective" battery Herman!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Battery or charger dead.

Let me start like everybody else, I love my EGO products. I bought EGO Blower 8 months ago, 15  inch trimmer and the hedger trimmer recently.  Before EGO I bought WORX 18V trimmer/hedger trimmer/blower, I also bought kobalt 40V trimmer/hedger trimmer/mower. After tried all of them, I think EGO is the best system. Too bad I can't return some of my purchase.

However there is one thing that bothers me. The warranty service.
I have one worx 18v battery dead. I just email them, They look up their system, they send me a new battery without asking me to mail the old one back and it arrived in 4 business days.  Monday I contact them, Friday I receive the battery.

Not to mention Kobalt, a 2AH battery is fried in the mower, I just brought the battery in. No question asked Lowes exchanged the battery for me. True Hassel Free warranty! I still use the Kobalt 40V mower just because their 5 year hassle free
warranty. I would love to switch to EGO mower if the warranty is comparable.

Now come to EGO warranty service. My EGO blower battery is dead on 4/26. Charger shows solid red.  I contact EGO on 4/28, customer service said the replacement battery/charger will arrive in 5-7 business day. But it is not. I received an email saying it will arrive on 5/12, why it took so long?  In my years of online transactions, it is really rare to see an item arrives after the promised date.

I complain here because I hold high expectation for EGO. I truly love the product.  Compare with my battery warranty experience with WORX and Kobalt, I think EGO has room to improve.

Again EGO is great product, I hope the warranty can be as great as the product.
