EGO Product Reviews from a converted Stihl gas power tools user.
In August 2018 I decided to replace my fifteen year old Stihl gas tools. They have served me excellently but they have aged (as I have). After many hours of research, talking with users and store personnel I decided to switch all of my tools (except my riding lawn mower) to the EGO power plus tools.
I purchased the following EGO tools:
1. Multi-head System with the following attachments:
. String Trimmer 15”;
. Edger
. Pole Saw
. Extension Pole
2. Blower 580cfm
3. Back Pack Blower
4. Shoulder Strap
5. Chain Saw 16”
6. BackPack LINK
7. 5 Ah battery
8. 6 Ah battery
9. Rapid Charger
As I was used to a multi-head system from my previous gas units I found the EGO Multi-head tool system a pleasure to operate. The interchangeability was easy and I much prefer this over the ‘tool only’ system as they perform equally as well without all of the bulk and at a more economical price. The String Trimmer was excellent with grass as well as with the grass/masonry edging. The Edger also worked well on my extended drive and walks. The Pole Saw and Extension Pole performed like a min-chain saw.
I keep the hand held Blower in my garage for use in the garage, outside on the motor court and drive area. My wife also uses this around the porch. I use the more powerful Back Pack Blower in the yard as well as for our long drive and street area – it truly is an outstanding tool. I will be using the Chain Saw next week but fully expect it to perform as well as all of my other EGO tools.
I have a 2 acre residential area so I purchased several of the tools on promotion so as to get the best price and to include the 5Ah and 6 Ah batteries (rather than the smaller 3Ah, etc.) as I wanted to be certain that I could finish a task without running out of ‘juice’. I did research the battery weights and decided to purchase the BackPack LINK so that I could mount the battery onto the BackPack Vest which then has a cable to plug into each tool thereby greatly reducing the weight of the tool by shifting the weight to the vest. This has worked out very well as my arms/shoulders/back are significantly relieved of weight with the extended tool usage. The 5 and6 Ah battery charges last longer than my tasks which I could not say for my previous gas units which required fuel refill during tasks. And I certainly do not miss the gas and oil mixtures. Additionally all of the units are so much quieter than my gas units that I use ear plugs rather than the headphone pads.
I am very pleased with my EGO PowerpPus tools and look forward to future EGO products.
