Alright everyone, here it is... the HEART of the machine exposed!

Rob and RoboMO posted a link to a teardown video showing the differences in how the Ego and Echo batteries are designed:

Way to go Ego!  What a GREAT battery design!  No wonder so many people complain about their ordinary "sealed box" style batteries coming out of the tools so hot and taking so long to charge after use!

Thanks for Sharing. Great video and reaffirmed my choice. When I learned that the company that made Craftsman cordless made EGO I was hoping for something good and great videos like this one were a big help in making a decision. I purchased the mower, blower, and 12" trimmer all at the same time replacing a aged other brand. Have been very happy so far.

I'm glad you started a new Thread Blue Angel, I was going to do it as well but got sidetracked..

I think more people will see that video now...

The only reason I found that video, I started researching the new Echo 58v line since HD has it so visible in store, thinking it would be better than the Ego...  it's Echo, right?  Well, with Ryobi battery/charger technology?.....!!!!!

Thank you to the one who did the battery tear downs and shared it and to Ego superior battery design and build.

Needless to say, I won't be considering the new Echo 58v line.  I already had thermal shutdown issues with the attachment capable Ryobi 40v trimmer last year.

Great review very technical.Because of it I now
and went and bought everything they make$
I've used the blower thousand times and the hedge trimmer
a few times as my deer already do tons of damage.
I had the string trimmer which was the smaller 12" diameter
0.80 line was always breaking and feed was n/g, now I ordered
the 15" String trimmer which takes up to .95 line.
I ordered it @ the store cause some Items can only be ordered online.
the EGO system is the one I'll continue to use so far because of your
Better venting and seal proofing and the heat transfer material WOW
great job EGO and this reviewers break down and detailed explanation
My actual use of the 2 amp hour batteries and the blower confirm  this
with none stop use all  spring, summer and fall and even winter.

With free delivery of order : mower, chainsaw, and trimmer.
no interest  when paid in 18 months. now its a no brain er.

Again great break down review. It helped me make a choice.

Oh wow. Stumbled on this forum on the internet.  As a guy just in the market for battery operated outdoor power tools, this video alone just struck Echo from my consideration list. The attention to detail, design, and quality of the EGO branded battery blows the Echo battery out of the water.  When I make an investment in new gear, I value quality craftsmanship first, closely followed by smart design. The EGO battery pack has got it. Thank you original poster for linking this! Saves me quite a bit of obsessive comparison shopping time by knocking out one of the big branded lines.
