Can Ego bring some of these to the US or am I going to have to move to Europe?

Notable (very frequently requested) items include:
• High lift 20" and 21" blades for all lawn mower models
• Shoulder straps and harness for all handheld tools
• Nozzle for 530 CFM blower
• Backpack battery for handheld tools

Someone from Ego, please feel free to respond and let us know the date each of these will be available in the US. Thanks!

Before we get TOO excited, we need to know the intended purpose of the blade... Is it intended for mulching, or is it intended solely for improved bagging/discharging?

If it's not a mulching design it will be useless to me, and many others I'd think. In any case, I t still might be a nice-to-have for fall leaf pickup or similar.

Need more info...

I would assume high lift is for bagging or side discharging. However it would be nice to have in certain situations like returning from a vacation to grass that has grown from 1.5" to over 4", or picking up leaves in the fall. I'll be honest, I have never done anything but suck leaves up with the lawnmower, and the Ego isn't so great for that.

High lift would also help a lot for those using a 4" cutting height on really long cool weather grass, who have complained about uncut blades.

I fit into the last category.

I wonder if the blade rpm is higher in Europe? Is there any way to make an adjustment to the rpm? I am sure this would void the warranty as well; but ultimately better mulching performance is what we are after.

That could be complicated. You might could trick the mower into thinking it needs to rev up, but if the mower senses too much load during spin-up then it shuts off to protect the motor. Or at least the original did. That's where a "boost" button could come into play, only activated after starting the blade normally.

Of course any talk of this is purely hypothetical and academic in nature, since such a modification would be very complex, probably dangerous, and would void a perfectly good 5 year warranty.

Hi everyone, we are currently exploring the possibility of bringing these European-only accessories into North America.  As members of the community, we will make sure you are the first to know here if we do bring anything over.  We appreciate the conversation and concern and please know that it is not going unnoticed.

Any explanation as to why a blade would be released there and not here? I understand different lines of equipment but not blades. They are something that would help with the mowers we own here.

Agreed.  Per my soapbox speech below, I'm a little confused as to why the blades weren't at least offered as an option.  And the shoulder strap and blower nozzle has been something that has been requested here for years!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled WHY can't we get the same cool tools that Europe has?? Are we living in a 3rd wo....

I just viewed the Ego catalog for Europe which has enhanced products compared to those in the US.  I'd sure like to have the edge trimmer that they have available.  Perhaps the high lift blade for my 21SP, too.  What is the rationale for selling lower featured Ego products in the US?  Is this going to change in the near future?

We’re listening! I’m happy to let the community know that the EGO “High Lift Blade” (official name to be determined) will be available on TheHomeDepot.com on or around Jan 1, 2017. I won’t bore the community with the intricacies of listing and stocking a new item, but please know that this is the absolute earliest we can make it available. Thanks for your enthusiasm, interest and detailed reports. Our community continues to amaze us!
