Used my neighbor's ego 12 in trimmer and I was impressed with it . So I went and bought the ego 15 in trimmer. When I press the trigger, the head does this jerky back and fourth motion. Even when I slowly squeeze the trigger it still happens, after about one minute of slowly releasing the trigger does the head start spinning . Is this normal for the 15 in trimmer ? The 12 in started right up .

Official Response
David, this does not sound normal. There is a slight delay while the motor drive slowly ramps the motor up to speed and makes sure it is not being obstructed, but nothing jerky-jerky.

The only thing I can think of is if something is obstructing the head and keeping it from turning properly? If I hold the head still on my 15" trimmer while pulling the trigger, the controller will pulse slightly over and over, but refuses to start the trimmer. I believe this happens because it thinks it's blocked, it seems like a safety mechanism.

Try removing the line spool and see if it fires up. If not you may have a defective unit. I would recommend contacting Customer Service in that case to see what they recommend:

I took the spool off , squeezed the trigger and it slowly got up to full speed. I took out factory line and replaced it with 0.95 round line . Put spool back on and squeezed trigger , and it started jerky motion again. Any suggestions ?

At this point I would give Customer Service a call and see if they have any other suggestions. If not they will guide you to getting a replacement.

That's a bummer... my 15" trimmer works great!  I think you're gonna love it once you get up and running.
