I am having trouble understanding what the real effective/technical differences there are between the stand alone edger and the power head edger other than it being a stand alone unit? (I.E not a power head)

I hear you. Right now their pricing is all over the place. It took a little digging, but with the heads up on this forum, the spring combo deal and the snafu, I was able to pick up eight pieces for almost the same price as the 399 combo deal. I got the trimmer, bare combo with multi head, blower, 2 batteries and 2 chargers. $50 a piece. Funny thing is, if you don't pay attention, you'll spend a whole lot more for the same. Gotta finish raking up so I can cut the grass and use the new toys. I mean tools. Steve

Shatfield, is this deal still going on? I just came across this forum due to a question I had asked from my 399 combo I purchased yesterday, but it's either been fixed or I'm not looking in the right products

Hi Keith. Here’s the link. https://egopowerplus.com/collections/... Here’s the link for the 15 inch string trimmer with battery. Will save you about 90 going this route. Hope this helps. https://www.homedepot.com/p/EGO-15-in... That way go get the best of both worlds. A dedicated string trimmer and a edger with power head that you can add attachments to. Steve

Almost forgot. If you go with my suggestion, the 90 savings will almost pay for a bare tool blower if your in the market. https://egopowerplus.com/collections/... Steve

Awesome...thank you! I actually picked up the weed trimmer the other day and then when looking for an edger because the store didn’t have one in stock, I came across the combo pack. Then I was stuck on if I go the power head route or wait for a dedicated unit.

Well I had thought earlier that maybe I’ll just return the combo unit when it comes in and then I got home to look at which model weed trimmer I had picked up the other day and found that it’s the older unit without the quick feed option and decided that was definitely going back. So I guess I’ll see which unit comes with the combo I already ordered and decide from there. I did however use the mower for the first time today and it blew my mind. At first, I thought I’d this even mowing and then looked back and thought this is too cool!

There are apparently motor wattage differences,
PH1400 PowerHead = 2000 watts
rear motor trimmer = 1200 watts
rear motor edger = ? watts
I suspect the "rear motors" would be a little lighter than the PowerHead as well.

I thought Amber or Jen had confirmed the rear motor edger was the same as the powerhead, but I’m not 100% sure.

Correct again, Blue! The Rear Motor Edger is indeed 2000W.

I am so disappointed that I can't get the rear motor edger just bare. I have chargers and batteries out the wazoo. I do not care for the power head tools, because, time, use and experience has taught me they get a little wobbly and loose at the connection area. I just want the rear motor unit.

Hi Teresa,
I understand your concerns. I can say that I'm using the PowerHead with edger and trimmer attachments commercially. I've probably switched between the two attachments 50 to 100 times and it's always quick and easy to switch.
And there is very little play in the connection area, It seems to be a very robust design. Plus, the PowerHead with edger attachment for only $129 is an outstanding value.

I agree. The connections on my powerhead attachments are rock-solid and seem like they will continue to be. The $129 price is a crazy-good deal.

I agree it is a crazy-good price. But, it is currently $138 at RCPW which is $9 less crazy, but still very crazy. So, crazy-good all over the place.
