I am having trouble understanding what the real effective/technical differences there are between the stand alone edger and the power head edger other than it being a stand alone unit? (I.E not a power head)

I bought the $129 PH and Edger combo last night. I had $80 in HD gift card balance laying around too that I applied. /win
My updated collection:

...Edger attachment
Now, need to find deals on the pole saw and hedge trimmer attachments.

There are apparently motor wattage differences,
PH1400 PowerHead = 2000 watts
rear motor trimmer = 1200 watts
rear motor edger = ? watts
I suspect the "rear motors" would be a little lighter than the PowerHead as well.

I thought Amber or Jen had confirmed the rear motor edger was the same as the powerhead, but I’m not 100% sure.

Correct again, Blue! The Rear Motor Edger is indeed 2000W.

I am so disappointed that I can't get the rear motor edger just bare. I have chargers and batteries out the wazoo. I do not care for the power head tools, because, time, use and experience has taught me they get a little wobbly and loose at the connection area. I just want the rear motor unit.

Hi Teresa,
I understand your concerns. I can say that I'm using the PowerHead with edger and trimmer attachments commercially. I've probably switched between the two attachments 50 to 100 times and it's always quick and easy to switch.
And there is very little play in the connection area, It seems to be a very robust design. Plus, the PowerHead with edger attachment for only $129 is an outstanding value.

I agree. The connections on my powerhead attachments are rock-solid and seem like they will continue to be. The $129 price is a crazy-good deal.

I agree it is a crazy-good price. But, it is currently $138 at RCPW which is $9 less crazy, but still very crazy. So, crazy-good all over the place.
