Cultivator Attachment Review

had a large hedge bed where I removed all the hedges and was planing on prepping the area (600 sq ft) for sod.  The soil was very bad with lots of medium to fine roots running through it.  You would have a difficult time just trying to put a shovel into the ground.  I knew I would need a power tool for this job.  As a happy Ego owner of many tools I decided to give the Cultivator attachment a try.

Once it arrived I went to work the first nice day without rain.  5.0 amp battery and this thing churned through the tough soil like it was butter.  I was VERY impressed how well it performed.  The job was done in about a half hour.  I highly recommend this tool but be warned, IT IS HEAVY.  Even with a shoulder strap I was exhausted after the job.  Not sure if a improved double shoulder strap would help but would like to find a way to make it easier to support.  As always, another great product from Ego!

I had a similar project and it worked great for me as well.  Very powerful and churned through the dirt nicely.

I have a cultivator too and it works great. The business end is heavy, but isn't that what you want so it can do the job effectively? I didn't find it tiring to use at all. Also, if you haven't tried it, it works best when you pull it through what you are working in, instead of pushing it.

Agree Mike.  Without some weight the tool would be likely to bounce around atop the dirt instead of digging in.  And yes definitely operates more smoothly when pulling.
