I’m currently living outside the U.S. but return home in
August, as I need to replenish my gardening arsenal I’ve been giving serious consideration
to the EGO mower and the trimmer. I do a lot of research before buying and even though the vast majority of reviews regarding your products are glowing I’m have questions on two points that I hope you can address, here goes...

1) I’ve noticed the issue with the side discharge chute coming off and clogging, I never mulch and typically bag my clippings but there are times when time is short and I choose to side discharge. I see that EGO is addressing the issue which makes me feel good about the company but my question is whether the solution will be implementable on existing mowers and if it will be made available to existing owners at no charge.

2) As battery technology continues to advance with more powerful/longer lasting batteries being announced every 6 months or so I believe EGO will try to be a leader in this area. Will EGO’s newer technology be designed to work in existing products? Not sure this may be possible but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

Thanks for your time.

Official Response
Hi Rob, thanks for your questions. We are committed to long-term cross-compatibility of all  EGO batteries and all EGO power equipment. While batteries may evolve, as you say, all of our 56V batteries will work to power all of our 56V products. We continue to work with current customers to troubleshoot any issues they are having with the side discharge. We also recommend that our customers give the mulching function a try; this avoids clumping and pilling of grass clippings.

Thanks for the reply Jennifer, you've put my mind at ease. I've been on the fence for the past month, do I stay with gas with all the maintenance issues but with a proven power track record or do I take a chance on battery power? Well, EGO made that decision easy for me.. I mean I have nothing to loose, especially with HD's 90 day return policy. If it doesn't work out for me I simply return it and I'm back where I was. Thanks again for answering my questions. P.S. Mulching is still out of the question so a resolution to the discharge chute problem would be welcome.   Rob
