I have the 14'" chainsaw and it was working great, then suddenly it shut off.  I've been using chainsaws since i was a teenager (20yrs), so i'm not an uneducated homeowner with their first chainsaw.

Whats happening is this...if you grab the chainsaw and squeeze the trigger it will run for a couple of seconds and then stop, you then have to release the trigger and safety button before starting it again and then it will do the same thing.  It seems to stop right about the time it gets to full speed.  The strange thing is this...if you are cutting a log or decent sized branch (something that puts a load on the saw) it seems to run fine and does not shut off after a couple seconds.

Things I've done...I always make sure there is bar oil in it....i have taken the bar and chain off and cleaned everything (it does the same thing with the bar and chain off)...i have put fully charged battery in it...i make sure the brake handle is in the correct position.

At this point i have no more ideas.  any advice on possible solutions would be great.

thank you in advance

Official Response
Bob, it sounds like there may be an issue with some sensor or control in the saw. It’s not likely to be something you are doing wrong.

Give Ego Customer Service a call and they can help you troubleshoot the issue. Call early in the day to avoid long wait times.
