Just bought ST1500-S trimmer, used it about an hour.  When it's time to refill the string, can I use 0.08 dia rather than the 0.095 dia?  I've got quite a bit of the thinner stuff, left over from my previous trimmer.  What, if any, consequences should I expect?
Thanks!

You could use thread if you want. It should work. But best to use 0.095 when ya get the chance.

The consequence is that the .080 string won't last as long.  You will be interrupting your cutting to "bump" the string out more often and you'll need to restring the reel more frequently.

I know the 15"'string trimmer likes to be near full speed to bump feed properly. With the lighter 0.080" line I would expect this to be just as true, maybe more so? If you do decide to try it out, let us know how it works.

As Dave said you'll go through it quicker, but hey, if you've got it already you might as well use it. :-)

As a side note, I recently sharpened the string cutter on my 15" trimmer and what a difference! The new 0.095" line I'm using is a hexagonal shape that's tougher than the original line, and it was difficult for the cutter to trim properly.

With the cutter sharpened it cuts the string nearly effortlessly, and actually makes a much cleaner cut which allows the string to do its job better as well.

I have used the .08 in the 15 inch trimmer, It works just fine, doesnt last as long but if your already have a lot of it you might as well use it up.
