Official Response
When you push the button in, and pull the line, then release the button, does line come out?

Steps
Pull line with one hand, keep pressure on the line
Push green button in
Then release button

Line should advance.

Is it just me or are there two pieces of string coming out of one side in the photo above?

On mine it takes a fairly good bump to get line to come out. It works every time now that I know how hard to bump it.
If Jacob's test steps work, try bumping it a bit harder while it's running.

1. The trimmer needs to be at full speed or close to bump feed properly. Make sure it’s spinning fast enough when bumping.
2. There might not be enough string left to make it feed properly (it works on centrifugal force). Try bumping before the string gets too short. The string in your picture is WAY too short! ;-)
