Has anyone used the backpack or hand held blower during snowfall? Does anyone know if it is ok if snow gets sucked into the intake during operation? I have a second floor deck and getting the snow blower up there is not an option.

I've used all three blowers in the snow; the 480, 530 and just this weekend the 600 backpack.
While I doubt they're really designed to have large quantities of anything fed into them, I doubt a few snowflakes will hurt. In the (admittedly limited) time I've spent with them in the snow there's never been a problem, and Ego even promoted the original blower as a tool for dealing with light snow.
The only thing I'd caution against would be blowing light fluffy snow into the wind and having a huge cloud of thick snow blowing around you while using it. It may not hurt it for all I know, it just seems like common sense to limit the amount of stuff it takes in. :-)

The EGO blowers are rated at an IPX4 – Protection from splashing water, no matter the direction - and so this would mean....you're OK with using your blower on the 2nd floor deck with snow, hope this helps.

I have been using the 480 model for 2 winters blowing light snow until it stopped working last month. I called customer service and they told me it wasn't built for blowing snow and that some snow probably got into the vents and shorted something. Even though I never registered my original purchase or retained the original receipt, EGO sent me a new replacement blower free of charge and no hassles. I am very impressed with their Customer Support which shows that they stand behind their product and brand name.

Yikes! I used my 480 model last winter to blow light fluffy snow, and it shorted out!
