After only 3 uses, the 4 amp battery isn't charging. When placed on the charger after use, it begins the charging cycle with a green light, then after about 30 seconds or less, it stops and gives me the red flashing light.
According to the manual, this is an indication that either the battery or the charger is defective. I've already gone through the trouble shooting, (inserting, reinserting and insuring proper connection, unplugging and replugging in the charger) with the same results.
I also noticed that while mowing with the battery getting low, the mower begins to drone out and reduce power. On numerous reviews and videos, the mower never had a reduction in power when the battery got low. It just shut the mower down all together without the reduction in power, which is a great feature. This makes me suspect that the battery is defective.
Today is Sunday, so I'll contact customer service tomorrow. From what I've seen on the forum, customer service has been great so I don't anticipate any problems in getting it replaced. Just not sure if it will be the battery and the charger. As the purchase is less than 90 days, I have the option of returning and exchanging everything, but it seems simpler and less work to just replace the battery. Everything else seems to be working fine.
I'll update when the problem is resolved with any other information. Just wanted to post this on the forum in case someone else has a similar issue.
Other than this set back, I love the mower. My yard is almost 10,000 square feet and mows beautifully. Love the performance and not having to deal with gas. I've used the LED lights which proved to be very useful on those spring evening mows. I even used them as portable lights without the mower running so I could finish raking.
