Same issue here! I purchased an Ego 15" string trimmer 5 weeks ago. It worked brilliantly, and then the green light begin yesterday afternoon. According to other threads, "something is wrong" and we should either (A) return it to the store for an exchange. or (B) create a Case and contact EGO Customer Support for a warranty exchange. Did you purchase your trimmer from Home Depot? What date? I called a local HD store this morning and they said I have up to 90 days to bring it in for an exchange or repair. But your message seems to indicate that you are past that initial period.

Can someone answer these questions:

  • What is the Root Cause of this "green blink of death", as some call it?
  • When it occurs, should only the Battery Only be exchanged?
  • Or should we assume that the Trimmer is defective and exchange the entire system for a new one?(As others have reported, this issue seems to be reported more frequently on batteries used in the EGO String Trimmer than their other products.)

If you exchange something to home depot you have to exchange the entire kit as purchased.  You can not make a partial exchange.

No cause has been given for the blinking light. Qualls since yours is under Home Depot's 90 day return policy just return all of it for exchange. Robert give customer service a call and they will take care of you.

I was going to share the same video link that Paul did above. This guy had the same problem with the green light (LED) constantly flashing.  He called EGO customer svc who told him they'd send him a new battery. He was told to recycle that defective battery.  THEN he decided to take it apart to see what's going on.  This video linked below shows how he troubleshot and fixed the circuit board.  Something not many folks can do. I'm a retired systems specialist with the FAA (over 30 years) and I no longer have the equip to do what he did.  Here's that link (but it’s 1 hour long!):
