battery life

I have the LM2000 20" mower, purchased in May of 2016. I have (2) 2.0 AH batteries, and the CH5500 rapid charger. The batteries  don't seem to last as long as they did, so was considering getting a larger battery but am confused as to what I could upgrade to. My manual says to use only the BA1120 or BA2240 battery with this mower. I don't know what the 2240 is, or if I can even use one with more capacity, like the 4.0 or 5.0 AH. They appear to be different sizes, dimensionally. What can I use with the mower and charger I currently have?

Yep, you can use the biggest 7.5Ah battery if you want.

The newer batteries came out after your mower, that’s why they aren’t listed in your manual.

I'm guessing then that the size difference does not interfere with it fitting into the compartment on the mower or the charger.

The BA2240 is the 4.0 Ah battery, which is what the 20-inch mower originally came with. I don't think it's being made any more because it was replaced with the 5.0 Ah battery. (The 2 Ah batteries have similarly been replaced with 2.5 Ah batteries.)

Did you buy the mower as a bare tool, without a battery?

The 20-inch mower will hold even the 7.5 Ah battery. But given the cost of those, I'd say the 5.0 Ah is the sweet spot. I have a pretty big back yard and can generally mow it all with a 5.0 battery.

I wish the 4.0 Ah was what came with the mower, but I don't think they were available at that time. The mower came with the 2.0Ah battery and the rapid charger. I purchased a 2nd 2.0 Ah battery shortly after I bought the mower, so I would not have to worry about running out of juice before I finished the lawn. It is a good thing as now it takes the second battery to finish the lawn, and my yard is really not that big. Since they have a 3 yr. warranty on the battery, I didn't figure they would get to the point where it would take 2 to finish the yard this quickly.

My mower came with the 7.5 Ah and I can literally mow the entire season on 1 charge; I have a cluster home with fairly small 1/8 acre lot.
