battery case hard to open

Wiggle front of case rapidly from side to side.  Latch opens within seconds without lifting up.  After 5 years, just pulling on front of case brings wheels off ground but does not open case.

The battery case isn't user serviceable and not intended to be opened or the 5 year warranty would be void.

Jay,
Not sure I understand the wiggling the battery compartment lid rapidly from side to side. Did that somehow make it easier to open the lid to the battery compartment? Those lids are snug, but a pretty much straight up pull opens mine pretty well. I have an older 21" model. One hand sets on the mower deck applying downward pressure while the other hand pulls up on the lid. Kinda pops right open.
I wonder if all that wiggling raised some burrs or rough edges on the plastic and is now making it harder to open the lid. Maybe try pressing down lightly on the lid to sort of cause it to deform outward a little bit with one hand while trying to lift up on the lid with the other hand. Sounds like cross purposes pressing down and lifting on the lid, but just got to get the technique I imagine.

William, battery warranty is 3 years.
