assembly problem

I recently bought a Model # ST1500F string trimmer. In order to install the handle on the shaft, I had to file down the interior channel of the handle so it would mount correctly. Many people just would have returned the item in disgust considering how much it cost, but my approach got the job done. I'm satisfied with the operation of the string trimmer so far. The Ego engineers should allow for more manufacturing variance in their design to prevent this problem.

Huh, I think that's the first time I've heard of a handle not fitting by being too tight to fit around the shaft. All of the tools I have with that handle setup, 2 trimmers, cultivator, and edger, always went together very smoothly. Glad you figured out a way you got yours to fit. Hopefully it will stay tight enough on the shaft.

I agree with Mike. I've put handles on three different Ego string trimmers, plus the powerhead. All of them have been fine. I can't help but think yours would have been fine, too, once you tightened the bolts and the handle flexed as it was tightened.

Likewise; you didn't install it facing the wrong direction?
