This would make edging so much easier. (yes, I know there is a separate edger by EGO, but I don't need another equipment when this add-on can suffice).
This is the edgit pro for the echo trimmer. We need this!

Here is an interesting review of the Edgit from a pro lawn care guy. The, basically, uncontrolled string length is definitely a con.

FWIW, I got my EGO rear motor edger yesterday. Took it out of the box and slapped in a 2.5 ah battery that I had already charged and ready to go and tried out the edger. I've gotten pretty good at edging with a string trimmer. The edger's cut looks even that much better. Hopefully EGO will be releasing the tool only model soon so it will be more affordable for those who don't want another battery and charger.

Looks like home depot does sell the tool only model for $129

Incognito, that's the multi-head system bare tool. Home Depot's web page is a bit misleading making you think it's taking you to the rear motor edger bare tool when it really isn't. But, yeah, if someone wanted to go in to the multi-head system that's a good way to do it.

At $129 you don't need to want in on the multitool. That is a pretty good price for an edger period.

Couldn't agree more. Was mostly just clarifying that it wasn't the bare edger but the bare multi-head tool. Great deal no matter what.

I much prefer string trimmer edging because I can clean a little trench/border and remove the little weeds and grass runners that come up between my edge and the pine straw - in one step instead of having to go back with a hoe and chop/clear them out. However, I have a little woman-size-weight trimmer of another Home Depot brand that converts from horizontal to vertical making the job easier.
Someday however, I would like to buy an Ego multi-tool and convert one string trimmer into a brush cutter and keep the second one as a string trimmer. And also buy the pole saw and hedge trimmer for those harder jobs along the border of the woods.

I just picked up the edger for 129. using the battery that came with the other tools. 129 is not bad for a "multi" tool. Since the multi tool alone cost more than the tool with the edger. makes no sense. lol
