Another blower bites the dust...

My 5 month old Ego Blower died on me this morning.  Only used it a handful of times since it was purchased in September, 2014 and it's always been well taken car of and stored indoors as I do with all my other battery-powered tools.  

The blower died on me after running for about 10 seconds this morning.  I tried the other 2 batteries I own (4ah/2ah) and the unit still doesn't work so I can at least confirm it's not a battery issue.

Seeing the number of people on these boards who've experienced the exact same problem as me with this blower suddenly breaking, isn't making me feel any better about the situation...

I've emailed tech-support and am awaiting their reply.

Live in Toronto, Canada.  Purchased this unit out in Kitchener, Ontario when I was out there doing some work.

I sincerely hope I don't have to drive all the way out there again to return this item.  I still have the receipt, but no longer have the original box.  The long drive in this horrible, snowy weather isn't very appealing to me either.

Hoping my Ego chainsaw lasts longer than this.  Purchased that in October, 2014 but never got a chance to use it.  Guess I will find out if that works, this spring.

Hopefully Ego will stand behind their product and resolve the problem quickly and without headach...

LT,

This is one company you don't have to worry about.  Considering how many they have sold, I consider the number of problems relatively small.  We all know that most people who comment, or take the trouble to comment about a product, are those who are having a problem.

I have yet to have anything break down and I am pretty rough with my tools.  I expect my tools to work with me, not hamper my work.  Your issue will be resolved, give them a chance.

LT1, please follow up after you've had your issue dealt with. Your tools have a 5yr warranty so it's not "if" they will correct the issue, but when and how easily.

Let us know how it works out! I'm in Ottawa and though I don't plan on having any issues, I would like to know how the warranty process plays out in the Great White North.

So far so good.  Contacted customer service via email with my info and a description of the problem and they responded within a couple minutes, giving me contact number to call.

Just got off the phone with them now and it looks as if everything's been settled.  A new blower will be shipped out to me within 10 days along with a tracking number to go along with it.  They also took the time to register all of my Ego products (never got around to doing that myself) while on the phone.

Very polite and friendly customer service.  Kind of through me off, actually.  Wasn't expecting things to go so smooth. - lol

Will update again as things progress.  

Very impressed so far.

Replacement blower arrived at my house yesterday afternoon and all is well again.  Big thanks to Ego for their amazing customer service.  It's nice to see there are still some companies out there, who'll stand behind their product and work with the customer to make things right when a problem arises.
