My old blower has a flattened tip and seems to control the airflow better- ever try pinching the end like
this?

Does running it over with the car count? That's what happened to our old blower.

On the bright side, now we have a good excuse to get the Ego blower!

James, see my reply to your other question. In a nutshell, pinching the end will increase velocity, but increase the pressure ratio of the fan. These turbine style fans are not efficient at high pressure. Look at competitors turbine blowers (Echo, Kobalt etc.) and you'll see none of them neck the tube down.

That contrasts with the older style centrifugal blowers which move less air but use the pinched nozzles to get air velocity up.

I don't mean pinch the volume/more velocity, I mean flatten the tip without changing the circumference.

You could probably try it out somewhat by just pitching the tube next time you're using it:

Careful not to pinch it too far or you could crack the plastic.
