A stand alone lawn edger

I LOVE the EGO product line!  But I have an issue with my Stihl lawn edger.  It is TOO heavy & cumbersome.  Also at 5'5" it is too long for me to manage properly without creating neck & shoulder strain.  I saw the Black & Decker Edge Hog Electric Lawn Edger and it is exactly what I am looking for!  An edger that sits on the ground so I do not have to hold the weight of the machine as I edge. My neighbor bought a used one that sits on the ground but it is gas operated.  Might EGO develop something like this.  It sure would be a nice tool to have so I can edge everything without having to schedule a chiropractic adjustment & a massage after working with that Stihl I own. I know that you have the Power + Multi Tool but I fear that length will be an issue with my height and the fact that it has to be held to operate.  I am not able to find the weight of the multi Tool with the edger.

Hi Delores! Thank you for writing in. We do not currently have plans for a separate edger. However, we do totally understand where you're coming from regarding the Power Head. We suggest heading to Home Depot or your local EGO dealer to get a little hands-on insight. Also, we encourage you to check out the user reviews posted in this forum for further usage perspective. In the meantime, the weight of the Power Head + edger + 2.5Ah battery 13.96 pounds.

Hello Amber, i currently own a blower, string trimmer, and hedge trimmer from Ego. then less than a year after my investment the power head came out, it was a little bit of a gut punch. Will there be any type of conversion or dedicated edger in the works. It would really be a shame to have to get components for a whole new system in order to the work i want. I currently use the string trimmer to do edge work and the need for a dedicated edger is evermore present when i finish.

I hope the Ego team is looking into this. I love your products but i cant bring myself to purchasing the powerhead system when i have properly working equipment already.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Will EGO come out with a stand alone edger?.

Will EGO come out with a stand alone edger? I already have a mower, snow blower, trimmer & blower and don't want the component system. Please EGO, support your customers.

Hi Amber,
Does EGO plan to make a conversion kit to turn the string trimmer into an edger similar to what Ryobi offers?

Sounds like a simple request to me EGO. Add 2 wheels to a bracket... Bracket clamps on trimmer or edger....... Am I missing something? Kind of like a golf bag cart.

Look the colors match also

I do not like edgers like that.  I do not like bulky and cumbersome.  I prefer lightweight, flexible, and easy to control.I generally prefer an edger with just a wheel on the back for guidance, one where I can control the edge depth with just how I hold it.
