Got my chainsaw delivered on Tuesday from Home Depot..charged up the 56v battery no problem. Used the chainsaw for 20 minutes yesterday and worked fine but noticed while using that the battery was flashing green. Put it back on the charger and it continued to flash green. And it has continued to flash green for a full day. I can get it to stop flashing for a bout 10 seconds by holding light button down for a while but the light never goes off. Used it again this morning for 20 minutes and while using continued to flash green. Have disconnected battery from chainsaw and once again is still flashing green. Light never stops flashing green. On the charger it indicates battery is charged. Called EGO today and they have no history of this problem and gracefully agreed to replace the battery as it will eventually discharge on its own with the continued flashing. Searched the EGO community board and there is no information about this or anywhere online that I found. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Battery and chainsaw and charger are less than a week old...Glad EGO will replace the battery but would have appreciated a bit better quality control on their part.

You're the first I've seen with that issue, Stephen!

At least you were able to use the tool in the mean time while Ego looked after the replacement. :-)

This web site sucks Clint...they make you log in endlessly and then your comment never appears. Love the product but EGO has some problems clearly with batteries and with the WEB site

Not only do I never have trouble with my posts appearing, I've never had to re-enter my password, either. Methinks there's something you need to change in your browser settings.

Ditto here, no login issues. Every three months or so (I think) I automatically get logged out on my phone and need to log back in. No big deal.

I log in using just a Get Satisfaction account, not through Facebook or other social media outlet.

Christmas mower! Alternating between the three colors would be better. Too bad.

Stephen, thanks for giving us a chance to replace the battery for you.  That's definitely a new one for us and we're glad we can investigate it further.

My 7.5ah battery is doing the same exact thing. I used the same battery to trim with the string trimmer, mow my front and back lawn with the self propelled mower and then used it to blow off the driveway and sidewalks using the backpack blower with no issues. Today I used it in the 16" chainsaw for the first time and the light just flashes green constantly after use. Battery recharged on the turbo charger but it still constantly flashes green. Battery seems to still be working just fine.

Count me in for the same issue with the 16" chainsaw. I got a CS1604 kit for Christmas, and today I filled up with chain/bar oil, then ran it for 5 minutes. When I quit and removed the battery from the saw, I saw the same green flashing light, every 1 second, from the 5.0Ah battery. It has been doing so for about 5 hours now.

I do plan on contacting support to report and hopefully resolve the issue, but has there been any word as to what this status code with the battery indicator means?

Tried to respond to your post yesterday unsuccessfully so am trying one more time from a different computer. I believe I first reported this problem about 9 months ago on the battery with the flashing green light. At the time EGO had no answer as to what this flashing green light meant and apparently it has happened to others since. And additionally, there was no fix or solution for it so they graciously replaced my battery albeit with one that had been manufactured about a year and a half before the date on the battery with the flashing light. So I kept the battery that flashed even after they sent me the new one, it would take a charge and work normally but then there was no way to stop the flashing and thus it discharged in about 3 days.  For a few months this worked but recently when I went to charge it as an extra battery it would not take a charge at all. The battery that flashed was manufactured in January 2016, if that helps. They obviously have a problem that they haven't quite figured out..

There may have been a production issue resulting in a batch of batteries with this issue, and that batch just ended up being slotted for use with the chainsaws? Just thinking out loud...

Hi all, I contacted customer support this morning. I have to return the tool, battery and charger to get it replaced. This is because I purchased it within the last 90 days. The company is aware of the problem and trying to find the core issue to correct it.

The call gave me a chance to register all my tools though so check that box off.

I bought a weed eater today. Charged battery, usd weed eater, took battery off and it has been continuously flashing green for hours now. Should it be replaced or is this normal?

BH the good news is that EGO will replace the battery, the bad news is that it's a continuing problem as the complaint on the batteries with the continuing flashing green lights dribble in. There was one 2 weeks ago as well. I first reported the problem about 9 months ago. Unfortunately they had no fix for the problem at the time but they did replace my battery. You would think they would have fixed the problem but clearly they haven't. Love the chainsaw and the blower I own but they've got a battery problem somewhere.

Agreed , my trimmer is good but battery issue needs addressing. I want this innovative company strong and healthy so they can keep creating new products.

Agree. They have battery issues which they have not fixed. These complaints about battery flashing green keep coming in after I first reported it about a year ago.

This happened the first time I used my mower last summer after about 15 mins. use, June 2016. It was alarming, but corrected itself within a few minutes. It hasn't happened since.

BH, I also own a weed eater with great success thus far.  That said; I have never experienced this issue with my battery before, so the best recommendation is to call Customer Service (CS) in the morning. They will be able to help you with this issue.

Customer Service Department can be reached at 1-855-EGO-5656 (1-855-346-5656)
from 8:30AM - 8:00PM EST (Monday - Friday) and 10:00AM - 6:00PM EST (Saturday & Sunday).

Bought the lawnmower and string trimmer at end of Feb.  The larger battery developed the flashing green light on second charge.  Smaller battery within a month.  Ego has replaced both of them.  Build dates on the bad batteries were Nov. 2016.  Were replaced with Dec. 2016 and Sep 2016 respectively.

The continuing saga of the flashing green light. Since I first reported it last March the problem has continued. No explanation from them officially as to why its happening or why they can't fix it.

It could be that they have so few batteries with this issue that it's just not worth looking into.

Think about it from an automotive perspective. If you take your car to the dealer because you have an issue, they don't immediately pick up the phone and call Engineering to discuss it. The problem is logged into their system, gets sorted by priority, and life goes on. Only if the problem is common enough (or serious enough) will it move up the priority list and be dealt with at the manufacturing level.

Just pulling a number out of the air, if Ego gets five reports a year of batteries flashing they're not going to care simply because it's not financially viable to worry about it. If all of a sudden 5% of the batteries they're selling have this issue they'll have a team assigned to figuring it out, pronto!

Companies don't have people just sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. Everyone has a job to do and their work is prioritized.

Let's not read more into this issue than is necessary, shall we? ;-)

The build date on Mine was Oct 16. Hope they figure it out soon. I like this company and want them to succeed. These batteries are in their infancy are as products go so I am not surprised there are glitches.

I'm not sure I would say the BMS (battery management system) is still in an infant status.  The oldest 2.0 AH battery I have is 11/2013, so about 3.5 years old, and it's still going okay.  I did have a 5.0 AH that was DOA, and it eventually went blinking red, and couldn't be charged, and Ego replaced it.  Have another 2.0, and two 2.5 (five batteries total), and they're performing well.

One thing that hasn't been discussed with respect to the flashing issue is what charger was used: standard (slow) or rapid.  They definitely have different circuitry since the rapid will actually display how many bars the battery is currently charged to.  Since the rapid recharges faster, it's definitely on a different charge pattern than the standard.  So that could be a factor as to why the battery loses it's mind and goes blinky green.

We’re still trying to diagnose the root cause of these issues. That said, Stephen, that is definitely outside of what we expect to see with standard battery performance. Please call 1-855-EGO-5656 (1-855-346-5656 and let us figure this one out together

Well you replaced my battery so I have no complaints. Other than it delayed my use of the chainsaw by about 10 days . But 3 people have "me too'd" me on the flashing green light within the past several days so I'm pretty you've got an issue with batteries which you need to look into.
