I have three 5.0 AH batteries that will not self discharge after being stored for 3+ months. The batteries preform normally in all other areas. I have had all three batteries for 15+ months. Any one currently have the same problem? I reported the problem to customer support once last
year, but never received a final resolution.

Official Response
It’s worth noting that the self discharge process will take quite a long time to complete, probably a few days. The process happens by engaging a bank of resistors in the electronics. Current is passed through the resistors and the energy is shed as heat, but since it’s encased in plastic can only dissipate a very small amount of heat. The endcap is warm to the touch during this process.

Because of this, checking a battery on day 31 would not be advised, you’re probably safer checking it on day 40. Having said that, if a battery has been sitting for three months it should have discharged to 30%.
